Show Notes

This is the first Decent Rowing podcast. In this video, Ken and Lachlan Davey talk about, how to fit athletes of different sizes and abilities into the same boat, when to look for the bend in the oar and how to get a crew rowing together.

Ken answers a viewers question on how to fit different people into the one boat. Essentially you are looking to get the arcs in which the oars move roughly the same. He also suggests that specialized rigging is only really possible if you are not sharing boats with other club members.

Ken talks about when you should see a bend in the oar and where the coach should be positioned to best see it. You can tell a lot from when the oar bends and it can be a very useful tool to see who is moving the boat and who isn't.

Finally, we talk about what it takes to make a crew click and what exercises can be useful bring everyone together.
